The Faceted Drop Studs were made using multiple techniques. The sculptural top pieces were made from hand-formed beeswax and cast into homemade non-petroleum casting sand. The cascading misshapen rectangles are hand-sawn from the first successful experiment in making aluminum sheet metal from the repurposed tire rims.
The process to make these one-of-a-kind earrings was 10 hours and diverted 10 grams of aluminium from a landfill.
The stud tops are attached using a cold-connection rivet post, developed in studio. Made from repurposed aluminum using a zero-petroleum sand casting process. Lightweight, tarnish-free and hypoallergenic.
Approximately 7cm in length
